Love is on its way

We went for a nice laid back feel. Kinda like the Eagles.
We weren't trying to impress just trying to stay in the pocket. The electric was recorded on a old Kramer through a Marshall jcm900 . We sang the chorus all together in one room six diffrent times then panned them in diffrent.

Dub her NoodleKnight

Ok,

I had to take Aetheris's Dub Her Madly track, and add some guitar.... It sounded too cool, and begged for something... so anyway, this is what I came up with... it is very rough, and tossed together real fast, I did it all in one take, just to give him an idea, and see if he likes it, if he does, then maybe we can work to get it sounding cleaner, tighter, and better... anyway, If you like the idea, and think it sounds cool, let us know, it may help sway his mind! ;)

I made this song a few weeks ago, the guitar portion is horrible, but I think Marino might be remaking it? Anyways, had to re-upload it, I sang it deeper this time, so I thought it sounded a bit better this time. TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK! THANKS!

Okay, this is one of the very few times I actually scrapped my first recording and did some effort :)
A little shredding at the end. Hope you enjoy it! EDIT: Well, I guess I still need some work on my timing :D - doing some beta testing, so I'm just checking if everything is working. I'm quite ashamed: this song sucks! :D

The Precipice (Demo)

This is a FL track designed to show you what this song should sound like. Mainly for the purposes of Collaboration. I've added in a speech synthesizer that simply says 'intro' or 'verse' to show when these happen. I think that vincentL may have a crack at playing this one out as acoustic (as it wasn't meant to be a FL track with bass and drums) as well as vocals. But if not, anyone is welcome to try and sing to this (PM me with your e-mail address, so I can send the track without the speech synth).
If you want to try playing it out, PM me and I'll explain this a little more. Also, the drums kind of represent the strong beats that would normally be emphasized on guitar, and also, the chords in the chorus (the long, long, short, long) is representing the strumming, (down, down, down, up, as the third down strum is cut off from the up strum).
The guitar part sounds quite fast, however, the vocals are quite slow, so in fact this is a slow song. It goes for 5 minutes, so it may bore most of you, but it is only here for a general impression of the instrumental part.

Here are the (non existent) lyrics:
V1
We climb up the walls
We know nothing up above us
We climb while others fall
We know we're destined to climb, destined to fall

V2
We climb up to reach the ceiling
We climb up to reach the sky
We climb to know what lies above us
We climb to know that we tried

Chorus
And the earth shakes, on the edge of a precipice,
then your grip breaks, and you're starting to fall,
so the world waits, on the edge of a precipice,
and your fingertips reach for a ledge that crumbles away,
We crumble away...

V3
We climb up the walls looking for answers,
we climb up the walls finding lies,
Yet we are climbing forever,
and never knowing why,

Chorus
And the earth shakes, on the edge of a precipice,
then your grip breaks, and you're starting to fall,
so the world waits, on the edge of a precipice,
and your fingertips reach for a ledge that crumbles away,
We crumble away...

Break
We find a ledge, and don't fall down,
We place our feet upon the ground,
We breathe fresh air, we see the sky,
We have green grass in which to lie,

V4
We climb up walls, looking for answers,
But the wall keeps going forever,
We came upon paradise,
We kept on climbing, searching for better.

Cheers and enjoy (enjoy? Ha!)!

BluesMan

What to say about this song... it's a song I wrote long time ago. It's a song about blues and how gr8 blues is and when I listen blues I don't need anything else 'cause it feels so good. It's blues-rock song, I hope u'll like it. And this is first time u'll hear me singing. Not really the best I can show, this song was recorded when I was 17, that was 3 years ago. Expect next month something brand new. :)

Fruityloops randomness

"Dave why on earth are you doing something in fruityloops? Don't you play guitar?"

Yeah that discussion about the FL plugins got me thinking... it's been about 5 years since I really worked with fruityloops 3 with the DJ's at college, since then I've just been using it for drum loops... but I thought it would be fun to have a play around!

This is only one min long but I thought it would be fun to make a short, simple track and master it fat!

Things I did:

Realised that I now suck at FL :-(
Used the pluck and Sytrus generators. They effing rule.
Used delay/reverb and EQ to make interesting drums sounds, and worked on different rhythms together.
Used EQ and panning to differentiate the different bits in the mix.
Used mastering to widen, fatten and enhance the sound, especially the low freqs.

Things I learned:

As above, I suck at Fruityloops.

The Fruityloops bundled compressor *IS* rubbish. An attack time below 5ms causes distortion, and it doesn't work properly because peaks still manage to get through the compressor.

The Fruityloops bundled reverb is rubbish.

So if you use fruityloops - get some VSTs in there!

Peace.
